Road closures, diversions and transport

Road closures and public transport

A section of west Princes Street remains closed between Charlotte Street and Frederick Street to all transport. Public transport including Lothian Buses and ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Trams are affected.

Please plan ahead for journeys as diversions and delays are expected to last until at least mid-August.

Pedestrians

Pedestrians can still access Princes Street except outside the former Debenhams building (109 - 112 Princes Street). Rose Street and Princes Street Gardens are also open for pedestrians.

Buses and trams

Buses are unable to travel along Princes Street between South Charlotte Street and Frederick Street and are being diverted via George Street and Queen Street. The Mound remains open.

Trams are running between ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Airport and West End (Shandwick Place) only. .

Tram customers travelling between the west of the city/airport and Leith or Newhaven will need to get off the tram at the West End (Shandwick Place) tram stop. Customers can then transfer on to the following services using their tram ticket:

  • a Lothian Service 25 bus from Shandwick Place to Leith or
  • a Lothian Service 16 bus from Lothian Road which goes to Leith and Newhaven.

Ticket acceptance is also in place for Airlink 100 customers with return tickets for travel between West End/Haymarket and ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Airport on board ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Trams.

Trains

Trains between ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Waverley and Haymarket stations have not been affected by the disruption.
